But, I don't recommend other people go and search out sets with issues on there, in hopes that they will be able to fix them and score a deal. And listen I bought a "defective" high-end Sony set off kijiji for cheap and dismantled the thing and found it was a really easy fix and the TV is perfectly fine after and I got it at a steal of a price. Sure go ahead and do it, but recommend people engage in this? I dunno. when that money buys a set that not only comes much more assured as to what you're getting, but also is a better set in the end anyway. I still don't understand how people can recommend these activities when it's really not for everyone, can be a huge waste of time, and for many is not worth saving $150-$250 for the headache and hassle. I even saw in that thread someone bricked their set due to such shenanigans. You must have been one of the guys promoting buying those $500-600 fauxK 50" sets at grocery stores with no tax, back then I'm guessing? lol Like the ones where people were also "hoping to get a 'good' one" and trying to fix all the problems with various methods and service menu tinkering, RMAing, returning/re-buying, etc. Plus I checked out that thread, seems like it has been going for years. See this is what I'm talking about, crap like IPS and RGBW-a double whammy combo of garbage. What everyone could use right now is for people who actually have a PLED5544U (where are the few thousand units WM sold in the last couple of months!) to chime in with their panel info and build date (or SN if the production date is encoded in there), this should help get a clearer picture on what to be expected when it comes to panel quality (yeah the RGBW panel was selling in TVs for roughly twice as much under LG label and some people seemed to be content with them, yet I see no reason picking a Proscan with an RGBW panel when a Proscan with a proper RGB panel is at the same price tag) Umbrella statements like this fail to acknowledge the nature of these types of deals and is certain to miss on potential good ones, these cheapo brands are merely labels/stickers, TVs from these brands are to be reviewed on a model-by-model bases (and even on the same model potential variations in panels needs to be accounted for if present). This specific 2019 PLED5544U or just some Proscan 55"? was it properly calibrated or not? even if it was the PLED5544U did it have the RGB panel or the RGBW panel (which will vary the experience significantly). Dont own it but its somewhere where I visit daily and have watched hundreds of hours on.
